EctoPharma, the Borders-based emerging pharmaceutical development company, is awarded the maximum Feasibility Study grant of £70,000 under Scottish Enterprise’s SMART: SCOTLAND Scheme which supports innovative research and development projects within small and medium sized enterprises in Scotland.
First Investment November 2005
EctoPharma Ltd is a “virtual” bioscience company based in Edinburgh, with all R&D, operations; marketing and sales performed by sub contractors or distributors. The company has developed and patent protected proprietary technology enabling it to commercialise a new generation of environmentally safe yet effective insecticides for pharmaceutical and pesticidal applications.
In June 2005 the company sought a £300,000 investment to complete trials for the pharmaceutical application and for the insecticidal fogging application. Subsequently, project timelines were significantly reduced and TRI Cap members invested an additional £100K later that year.
Winter 2008
EctoPharma reports very successful Phase 3 clinical trials of its KindaPed product – a head lice treatment – and progress with licensing which will see the product available throughout Europe and North America. Its veterinary products are also progressing well through clinical trials, with commercialisation on the horizon.
In addition, the company is developing further potential products for a new market place.
