TRI Cap was part of a £500,000 funding round in Fios Genomics, joining with Archangel Informal Investment, the Scottish Investment Bank’s Scottish Co-Investment Fund, and Fios’s directors.
Fios Genomics was founded as a spinout from the University of Edinburgh in 2008. Customers for its services – data analysis and interpretation for the pharmaceutical industry – include major pharma and biotech companies, clinical centres and academic groups throughout the UK, US, EU and Asia.

It’s been announced that the first tenant for Scottish enterprise’s “bio-incubator” building at Edinburgh’s BioQuarter, the £600 million science park next to the city’s Royal Infirmary, is to be Fios Genomics. Fios will move to the site from the technology transfer centre at Edinburgh University’s King’s Buildings
The firm will take 700sq ft at the £24m, 85,000sq ft facility. Construction work was completed at the end of last year and the building is currently being fitted out for its first tenant.
Bill Buckie, Fios Genomics’ chief executive, said: “Moving to Edinburgh BioQuarter is another part of our ambitious plans to be a leader in our field.”
