TRI Cap members invested in Actual Analytics, a recent spin-out from the University of Edinburgh which has secured over £900,000 of investment to develop and take its first product to market.
TRI Cap joined a consortium of investors led by Discovery Investment Fund and which also included Highland Venture Capital and the Scottish Enterprise Co-Investment Fund.
Actual Analytics uses cutting-edge video analysis technology to automatically analyse test subject behaviour – a crucial step in the development of new drugs treating diseases of the Central Nervous System (CNS), such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Customers therefore cut costs by automating a time-consuming and error-prone manual step in the drug discovery pipeline.

Actual Analytics drawns down its second tranche of investment of £432,000 from a consortium of investors including TRI Cap, whose members invested £56,000.
This followed achievement of various targets, including the company’s successful launch of a suite of new products designed to automate the observation and analysis of behaviour for scientific studies which previously relied upon the skills of trained observers to record and analyse complex behaviours.
