TRI CAP ATTENDS CONNECT CONFERENCE 2009
Fifteen technology companies with propositions in life sciences, cleantech, software, manufacturing and energy attended the Connect Investment Conference in Edinburgh in November to pitch their businesses to investors. Around 140 people attended including representatives from the main early stage funders in Scotland and beyond. While the original Connect Scotland folded in 2008, Glasgow based GO Group has salvaged the concept and staged a re-modelled event at The Hub, Castle Terrace.
TRI Cap Chairman Rob Dick and Investment Manager Kathy Greenwood both accepted the invitation to attend on behalf of the syndicate.
Rob commented:
“It was an excellent conference and with some good presentations from the companies attending – a mix of new and familiar businesses. There were certainly some which might also be of potential interest to TRI Cap, and these will be followed up as appropriate.
“We also had some good networking activity and I was interviewed talking about TRI Cap and the conference for the official film record of the event.”
Kathy Greenwood was particularly pleased to see the Connect concept being preserved:
“It was a huge disappointment last year when Connect seemed set to disappear,” she said, ”as the organisation provided an extremely valuable opportunity for technology companies to interact with potential investors. This is an important event which I am very pleased to see returning to Edinburgh.”
