Tri Cap Annual Golf Day 2009

The Roxburghe Golf Course and Hotel near Kelso was once again the venue for TRI Cap’s annual golf day held on 29 September: a keenly contested tournament in which Chairman Rob Dick was challenging to retain the winner’s yellow jersey for the third year.

While the day was fine, our wet summer ensured the conditions were difficult for the 20 participants - a nice balance between members and guests, some of whom came from supporting organisations including Braveheart, LINC, Scottish Enterprise, Ernst & Young and Lochroe.

Despite Rob’s best efforts the winner of the Chairman’s Trophy was Hywel Ball, who with a very creditable 42 stableford points was round in an excellent 85 (net 67) against the par of 72.  Nipping at Hywel’s heels were Peter Bowyer (2nd) and Paul Crookshanks of Scottish Enterprise Borders and new TRI Cap member John Harding-Edgar who shared 3rd place. John played extremely well to also collect the prizes for both nearest the pin and longest drive.

Thanks once again to Walter Riddell-Carre for his excellent organisation of a very enjoyable day and for awarding the many prizes.
