TRI CAP PARTNERS ARCHANGEL IN FIOS GENOMICS DEAL

TRI Cap has announced its second significant investment in a biotech business in the space of a month. The syndicate is part of a £500,000 funding round in Fios Genomics, joining with Archangel Informal Investments, the Scottish Investment Bank’s Scottish Co-Investment Fund, and Fios’s directors.

Fios Genomics was founded as a spinout from the University of Edinburgh in 2008. Customers for its services – data analysis and interpretation for the pharmaceutical industry – include major pharma and biotech companies, clinical centres and academic groups throughout the UK, US, EU and Asia.

Fios plans to expand its service capacity to meet increasing demand from customers and to deliver large scale projects, by recruiting additional senior staff and building new capabilities.  The company has made two senior appointments: Dr Bill Buckie is its new CEO and Dr Sandy Primrose is the new non-executive chairman.

TRI Cap Chairman Rob Dick commented:

“This is an exciting and forward thinking business which is very clearly servicing a significant market sector. TRI Cap members were please to join with other investors to support its growth.”
