TRI Cap Member Profile - Tim Wilcock

Originally from Hampshire, TRI Cap member Tim Wilcock left England over 30 years ago and now lives near West Linton. Tim is a director of Borders-based Leader Partners, working with long-standing friends John Hall and Victoria Winters to deliver a range of consulting and training services to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and contract research sectors.
A degree in economics (laced with a liberal exposure to accounting) from the London School of Economics in the late 1970’s, led Tim to pursue a career as a chartered accountant. Over the last 35 years he has worked in a range of senior finance and executive roles in the oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, legal and consulting sectors. Equally comfortable in rapidly growing or badly ailing organisations, he has plied his trade in the UK, USA, Europe and the Middle East.
Tim remembers when he joined TRI Cap: “I was lured in three years ago by the prospect of untold riches for little endeavour,” he chuckled, “but quickly discovered that there is much more fun to be had by mentoring young companies as they struggle to establish a foothold on the commercial ladder and by helping those who are in imminent danger of falling off.”
He continued: “The diaspora of businesses and people that make up TRI Cap and its investee companies is a world away from the staid and sterile atmosphere that often dogs big corporate life, and is what attracts me to this part of the Borders’ economy.”
Today Tim fits work in around a range of other interests which encompass being a part-time theatre critic, choral singer, actor and theatre director as well as teaching theatre to adults with a range of disabilities. He also finds time to go travelling and is still playing elite hockey having notched up over a century of appearances for Scotland Masters squads over the last six years.
